There are no guarantees for business success; we know this. And yet the thought piqued your interest just the same, did it not?
Is that because the optimist in you can imagine the possibility? Of course, one of the great presuppositions of NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) reminds us that ‘what’s possible in the world is possible for me; it’s only a matter of how’.
Or is it the aspiration to surpass previous achievements that drive you on?
For all the financial forecasting we do: the budgeting, validating and re-estimating of figures, we’re still in the lap of the gods. What will be, will be; or will it?
Whilst there’s an element of being in the right place at the right time – a chance meeting or conversation that leads to a lucrative contract; we can’t wait for that to happen. No. We must do everything we can to bring to fruition the growth we’d like to see in the business or the change we’d like to make in our lives.
To do that you need unwavering passion; and to be able to sustain that belief when all around you can’t see what you see. Which leads me onto one guarantee we can make about business success; and that is we need other people to achieve it.
If we look after the people we do business with – including but not limited to our employees and our clients, then business success will come; of that I have no doubt.
Now, it may arrive in a fashion you weren’t expecting or in a way you hadn’t thought of working; and arrive it will. Why? Because people do business with people and ultimately business success is born out of our collaborations, partnerships and friendships.
So, check in to make sure you have the passion and the belief in what you’re doing. Then make sure you’re taking the time to nurture your relationships. That’s all of them; not just the ones you think will be good for you in business.
